Living just outside of Munich, and especially with my new commute, I see pre-production BMWs on a daily basis.

In full camo! No matter what it is. This X5 sports a “Hybrid Test Vehicle” sticker (very common, not sure if true) at the back and a WTF????? attempt at camo vinyls. Did they get bored a minute in, or did their shift end and they never finished it? Why even start if you only manage to go this far?

Wonder why it says Hybrid Test Vehicle rather than Hybridprobefahrzeug or whatever?

Being an ultimate driving machine, the X5 removed all it’s camo through extreme, ultimate driving.....over the curb to get around parking lot traffic.

I’ve heard that sometimes they roll around with just some camo so they can be “leaked” as Marketing. Not sure how far this goes.
May also be an internal regulation. I worked for a manufacturer that required camo for all pre production cars that left the factory or test track. So, sometimes they just had like a strip of camouflage and foam on the bumper even if it was pre production for the new seat options or infotainment.

Don’t forget the harsh environment of parking over humid grass in the Country Club on last saturday’s fundraiser.

I’m sure that a thorough analysis of the failure has been completed, and such a mistake will never happen again. Also, the worker’s family has been shot.

The hybrid bit is HIDDEN behind the camo!

It’s probably either hiding a badge or this is actually all-electric and that’s where the plug goes.

It could have most of the camo removed. Around Detroit you will see cars that are in various stages of camo from full padding and screens over the windows to paint with tape residue from where the camo and test gear was stuck on.

A lot of German businesses use English for internal communications so the English sticker isn’t a surprise.
